Description: Basra, Iraq ➖ Whilst walking the promenade in Basra, we came across the Shatt al-Arab River. Locally known as Dijla Al-Awara, it stretches some 200 kilometres in length all the way to the Arabian Gulf. We noticed some local boats out on the water and decided to test our luck for a quick ride before sunset. The man agreed to 10,000 Iraqi Dinar and we were soon motoring down the river, but of course, it wasn't all smooth sailing with the police soon coming after us because Mac was standing on the boat roof!
