March 2022 marks 20 years since the month known as Black March—a dark time during the Second Intifada when terrorist attacks took place almost every day of the month. The events of Black March prompted the IDF to launch Operation Defensive Shield, a counterterrorism operation to keep Israeli civilians safe. After the operation, the rate of terrorist attacks decreased immensely.
