Description: Victor Henry Elford, a star of rallying, sportscar racing and Formula One, has sadly passed away at the aged of 86. Nicknamed "Quick Vic" by his fellow competitors, Elford began his career in rallying, becoming European Rally Champion in 1967 at the wheel of a Porsche 911. He was best known for his many achievements in Sportscar racing, including winning the 1967 24 Hours of Daytona in a Porsche 907 and later that year, the famous Targa Florio open-road endurance race, where he won what he described as the "race of his life" after losing 18 minutes from a lost wheel and puncture. We take a look back to the 1972 Sportscar Manufacturer's Championship, featuring one of the most breathtaking practice laps ever committed to film as Vic drives the T33 in practice for the 1972 Targa Florio on Sicily's tortuous roads. The most astonishing aspect is that the roads are not closed for practice! We're on INSTAGRAM: bit.ly/2evtvsg Like us on FACEBOOK: rb.gy/whhu63 Follow us on TWITTER: bit.ly/2evt6Gv
