It has been proven that people who read regularly tend to have a bigger vocabulary than people who don't read as much. It's also been proven that reading fiction builds your vocabulary even more than non-fiction. However, if you are struggling to express your ideas in everyday conversations, I recommend that you first start by reading lots of non-fiction and sharing what you read with others. This will help you will pick up hundreds of new words and get comfortable expressing your ideas.
