Roy Jones Jr aka “Captain Hook” takes on former WBO Middleweight Champion “Magic” Otis Grant in the 1st and 2nd defenses of his WBA & WBC World Light Heavyweight Titles. Prefight records; Jones 37(31)-1, Grant 32(17)-1-1. Roy entered the fight as a Triple Crown World Champion having won world titles at Middleweight, Super Middleweight & Light Heavyweight with notable wins over the likes of Jorge Vaca, Jorge Fernando Castro, Glenn Wolfe, Vinny Pazienza, Eric Lucas, Mike McCallum, Merqui Sosa, Thulani Malinga, Tony Thornton, Thomas Tate, Virgil Hill, Lou Del Valle, Bernard Hopkins & James Toney. From the opening bell, the champion dominated the southpaw challenger in typical prime Roy Jones fashion and ultimately disenchanted Magic Otis via TKO10 in a tactical warfare that was largely in his favor. Grant who literally landed only 1 out of 137 jabs thrown the entire fight was thoroughly overwhelmed and decked in rounds 6 and 10. Shortly after the 2nd knockdown, his trainer Russ Anber threw in the towel which forced referee Arthur Mercante Sr to call a halt to the bout. To his credit, Otis Grant was determined and did the best possible against Captain Hook. Enjoy this highlight of one of Captain Hook’s most spectacular wins, don’t forget to SUBSCRIBE and keep punching!
