Some may be in a position where they can afford to purchase it all at once, while others may put it together over time as their budget permits. One thing is certain, you should be putting your primary kit together with the best equipment that you can afford. This kit is meant to be filled with resources that you will apply knowledge and skill to that may potentially save your life in an emergency. It is an investment, not an expense. I would liken it to insurance. Insurance is an investment that you make, sometimes on a monthly basis, so that you can rely on it in an emergency.
