I love swimming in the giant kelp! It’s like being in a beautiful forest on land, only underwater! - Kelp is held to the bottom of the ocean with a root-like structure called a holdfast. - It floats up toward the sun using little bladders full of carbon monoxide that grow on every leaf. They’re also fun to POP! - Kelp can grow up to two feet per day, and reach 100 feet (or 30 meters) tall in the right conditions! WOW! - Over 800 different species hide, live and hunt in the kelp. Here are a few of them now! - What do ice cream, salad dressing, pet food, and chocolate milk have in common? Algin!
