Description: Watch the Cinematic Cut Here πŸ‘‰ youtu.be/8naxjlqG6y0 iPhone 13 Specs πŸ‘‰ bit.ly/3BgoRG6 My Instagram πŸ‘‰ instagram.com/andrewtkearns 1:45 - Standard 1x 3:26 - Standard Ultra-wide (0.5x) 5:10 - Standard Telephoto (3x) 6:25 - Cinematic Telephoto (3x) 7:30 - Cinematic 1x 9:04 - Is the iPhone 13 Pro worth it? 9:43 - Is the iPhone 13 Pro a game changer? We take an in-depth look at the iPhone 13 Pro Max, this is also the same camera system in the 13 Pro. Standard video Mode - 1x lens This lens looks great for all-around shots & is perfect for taking the phone out of your pocket & quickly capturing those candid moments. It's tack sharp, handles low light well & will probably be the lens you use most. It is wider like the 12 Pro Max lens, personally, I wish it was a little more cropped in but it is just a biased opinion. Standard Video Mode - UltraWide The Ultrawide lens or the 0.5x lens is my favorite for creating compositions. The ultrawide fits so much in the frame it seemingly creates its own leading lines for you. This also works great for capturing things in close quarters & bigger subjects, like mountains. The colors usually look great from it, in fact, I loved most of the clips. However, sometimes it would get a little weird with how it looked. Sometimes it came out completely washed out or it came out looking overedited - this happened while shooting in shadows with a bright sky (washed out) & while shooting into the sun with clouds & various colors on the ground (overedited). That being said, it handles low light a bit better than the 12 Pro Max & I'm a huge fan. Standard Video Mode - Telephoto Also known as the 3x, this lens completely blew my expectations & tbh I did not shoot on it a ton (which upon reviewing the footage I was kicking myself afterward). The 13 Pro & Pro Max telephoto is a major upgrade, in my opinion. It comes out to look sharper than ever & if you're in a mountainous environment or a higher vantage point the telephoto works wonders by capturing all the layers in front of you. It does lose some aperture compared toe the 12 (the 12 Pro Max has f/2.2, the 13 Pro/Pro Max has f/2.8) but tbh it looked better than anything that's come out of my previous 12 Pro Max telephoto lens. Cinematic Mode - Telephoto Also known as the 3x cinematic mode this lens is impressive, but maybe the one I will use least of all the selections. Just like the standard 3x telephoto, it has incredible compression & I do love the colors rendered from it - the 3x cinematic mode definitely looks cinematic, but if you zoom in you will see some fringing on edges, especially ones where it's a human subject & there are little loose hairs. It also focus hunts & is noticeable when it does - overall though it's not a deal-breaker. The compression combined with the depth of field look cinematic mode gives is something remarkable when it comes out right, most clips are usable despite these small flaws & it will continually get better with updates. Cinematic Mode - 1x lens This was my favorite option out of all the lens & video mode choices. Cinematic mode on the 1x lens, in my opinion, is the start of the tide turning where phones will replace big cameras, it was the first piece of evidence where some clips I wouldn't be able to tell the difference between a cinema rig or the phone - not every clip, but some. It looks so natural, which surprised me. I thought it would look a bit forced but it kept tracking the subject well & shifted focus smoothly on most of the clips. The colors on both the 1x & 3x lens in cinematic mode looked phenomenal too, again it was that natural look that really sold me. The couple flaws I noticed were the same found from the 3x lens - it does hunt for focus in certain situations & does fringe on edges with hair. Personally - I did not mind this, almost all of the clips were still very much in the realm of usability, The whole time we were blown away by what was coming out of Cinematic 1x mode. Conclusion: Worth the upgrade? If you have a 10 or below I think it's a pretty significant upgrade. If you have the 11 or 12, it's up to you. If cinematic mode is a priority, sure, but if not maybe wait for a phone or two as this will only get better & better. Game Changer? Yes - this is the most significant upgrade on an iPhone since portrait mode & the first evidence I've seen where I'm convinced the phone's camera system is slowly turning the tide against bigger camera systems. I don't believe it will happen in the next few years but I do think it will happen sooner than we think. Time will tell. Thanks for watching!
