Description: This is Chris Watts' full 2nd police interview, including the lie detector test he took and failed, and detectives probing him until he eventually confesses to killing his wife to his father and then to detectives. Formalities: 3:25 That boring part during most police interviews, when the detective states who they are and gather basic non-crime related information from who they are talking to. Discussion: 41:45 Detective Tammy and Chris talk about his "missing" family, his relationship with Shanann, past and recent events, including the few days leading up to and the day of his families disappearance. Chris does most of the talking during this period. Pretest: 3:09:40 Detective goes over how the lie detector test will be performed and what questions will be asked and what is expected from Chris (this part is kinda boring). Test: 3:34:30 Lie detector test when the detective asks Chris some control questions followed by if he is responsible for the disappearance of his family 3:41:37 Results: 4:11:38 Results of the Lie detector test and discussion with detectives about the results. Chris finally reveals he has a mistress, Nicole Kessinger 4:18:25 but still denies knowing the whereabouts of his family. Confession: 4:49:07 Detectives allow Chris and his father, Ronnie Watts, to talk alone in the interrogation room when Chris admits to killing Shannon, but claims it was after she killed their daughters Bella and Celeste. Detectives 1: 5:00:20 Detectives come back in the room and Chris tells them the story he told his father along with where he discarded his family at the oil site he worked at. Detectives leave the room 5:21:00 and leave Chris and Ronnie alone for a little while longer. Detectives 2: 5:55:11 Detectives come back and Ronnie leaves the room. Detectives ask Chris follow up questions and discuss the location of his families bodies, details of the murder, why he did it, etc. Detectives allow Chris to talk to his father for a few more minutes 6:48:33. Tanks: 6:52:48 A detective returns and asks Chris additional questions about how he put his daughters in the oil tanks. Arrest: 6:55:24 Chris is arrested and taken away.
