Description: GoodLightMag.com/15 - Six Useful Tips for Holiday Photos That Are Spicy And Memorable Exciting holiday shoots are a great way to create memorable images during one of the best times of the year. Here are six useful photography tips that expert photographers and novices alike can easily take advantage of as a way to take holiday picture taking to a new level of spicy and dynamic creativity. 1 - Use a variety of angles and vary your point of view whenever possible. One common error of many photographers is shooting from one singe angle only. Always strive to create a unique scene by taking advantage of unexpected and unusual perspectives and points of view. One of the best ways to avoid having shots look too similar is to simply change camera angles and point of view or perspective frequently. Exploring various camera positions 180 degrees around your model is a great strategy as is alternating from the highest point of view to the lowest. Michael makes these habits calling them the “The 180” and “Dirt to the Clouds”. 2- Leverage the rule of thirds By simply superimposing two horizontal and two vertical lines onto the frame of the image to be shot, a photographer can create the right composition. This grid in essence allows the photographer to position the most vital or important elements of the subject of the shoot on the intersections of the superimposed lines. When the natural lines of a model, for example, are merged with the lines of the grid excellent composition is a direct result. 3- Shoot from the short lit side In the most basic or terms, short light is intended to illuminate the far side of a subject or model's face. This effectively causes the foreground to become somewhat darker while the background is slightly more illuminated. As a result there is a distinct contrast between the shadows and highlights in the image. Short light is perfect for producing more dynamic and artistically interesting images. 4- When shooting outdoors consider using polarizer filers When shooting outdoors in a bright sunlight setting where the immediate surroundings are darker, it is best to take advantage of polarizer filters. This is a smart way to deal with a situation where a particular shot would otherwise be too overwhelming for a camera to address because of its limited dynamic range. Much in the same way that polarized sunglasses filter bright light a polarizer filter on a camera can quickly improve image quality by bringing down the skylight, which also leads to much richer blue tones in the sky. 5- Take advantage of WiFi for transfering images on the fly An excellent back-up to a memory card is a WiFi card. By installing this simple device into a camera, a hotspot is created allowing captured images to be instantly transferred to other devices. This is an ideal way to preview images on other devices instantly. Automatic transfer in this manner provides for redundant back-up ensuring that valuable photos are never lost. Sometimes referred to as WiFi-tethering, this is also a great way to view images on a laptop of other big screen on the fly. 6- Make use of workflow applications Syncing images across many different devices and processing the best photos in real time is usually best achieved by using a quality workflow app. For example, Adobe Photoshop Lightroom is a popular app that is considered to be an excellent post-processing tool. Whether using a Mac based machine or a Windows based machine, Lightroom and similar other applications can make the syncing and choosing of images on the fly easy and convenient. Processing thousands of images is best achieved when using a reliable workflow application. Consider these simple yet important tips to make every photo shoot rewarding and enjoyable.
