Description: Sky News host Paul Murray says people need to take a new poll predicting Labor to win majority in the federal election with a “pinch of salt”. According to a special YouGov MRP poll commissioned by The Australian, based on a sample size of almost 19,000 voters, Labor is expected to win the federal election with 80 seats. Mr Murray said the average sample size that they have used to predict the result is 125 people “in electorates that have tens of thousands of people”. “This is a new way of doing something. If it turns out to be the right way to predict things then okay, they’ve cracked the nut, they’ve found the way to start doing specific seat-by-seat polling,” Mr Murray said. “But put simply, even though they have asked lots of people, you have to divide that by 151 different electorates, and that’s when you start to get to small sample sizes.”
