Description: In today's video we're discussing: why do people live a zero waste lifestyle? We'll also cover what barriers people might face when trying to start a more sustainable, eco-friendly lifestyle. This is the second video essay on this channel in an attempt to shed light on topics around sustainability, minimalism and ethical, sustainable fashion. It's clear that the zero waste movement has benefited from the attention garnered from the likes of Bea Johnson and Lauren Singer, but there is more work to be done on diversifying the movement and taking an intersectional approach. The zero waste movement needs to adapt and address issues such as environmental justice, so that we can take collective action for positive change. » WATCH NEXT » » 100 Zero waste swaps you have to try » youtu.be/xkG4jSbfReQ » Why is Fast Fashion so Cheap? youtu.be/sD0ADO1QnW0 » S U B S C R I B E » bit.ly/38aNJDo » I N S T A G R A M » bit.ly/3hBsY6E » P A T R E O N » bit.ly/3eu2FA3 » Time Stamps » 00:00 Why do people live a zero waste lifestyle? 01:10 Discovering zero waste lifestyle 08:00 The "right thing to do" 09:41 Zero waste is still trending 10:41 The problem with being cool (greenwashing) 11:50 Why people may NOT live a zero waste lifestyle! 15:22 Reasons for optimism 15:57 What I hope to see in the future from the movement » C R E A T O R S M E N T I O N E D » » Isaias » instagram.com/queerbrownvegan » Moji » instagram.com/hippiemoji » Gittemary » @Gittemary Johansen Thumbnail Photo by Laura Mitulla on Unsplash » W A T C H M O R E ! » » Zero waste HABITS I actually still do: bit.ly/3hB97on » Minimalist HABITS I actually still do: bit.ly/354VjgV » 100 Healthy habits you have to try! : bit.ly/3pNRdld » 100 ZERO WASTE swaps you have to try! : bit.ly/2LiCwr3 » 100 Ways to REDUCE FOOD WASTE you have to try! : bit.ly/38R2iuO » 100 Things to REUSE AND REPURPOSE you have to try! bit.ly/2Mv8st9 » R E A D I N G L I S T » Productivity & habits bit.ly/38akWyC » F O O D V I D E O S ! » » How to Make Plant Based Milks: bit.ly/3bcEvIC » How to Make Plant Based Mayonnaise: bit.ly/3pWyoMD » How to Make Nut Butters: bit.ly/2LaLIye ⇨ COMPANIES I LOVE » For $10 off your first THINX order click here: shethinx.com/pages/leader-imogen . . . Whatever you want to call it. These are the result of tiny habits I've built from living a zero waste lifestyle for 5+ years. I include my thoughts on zero waste cooking, making things from scratch and living like a minimalist. There are some sustainable habits that I love, some zero waste things I don't love so much and a few I regret. I hope you find this video helpful and don't make the same mistakes as I did!
