Description: whoa whoa whoa! Another video about elements! EDIT on 2021-01-04: My Elemental 3 experiment is offline now, for reasons described in the video. Here is a Discord server for talking about Elemental games: discord.com/invite/X9VyN42 (Also, I should make it clear that I'm super supportive of anybody who wants to make a game based on Elemental 3 / 4. After all, Elemental 3 was based off of Doodle God / Alchemy! So don't worry about "stealing IPs" or anything, because derivative games are all cool. ๐Also, my Elemental 3 was made with Macromedia Flash 8 / ActionScript 2 as the frontend, and PHP/mySQL as the backend, so I think any new version of the game sadly has to be made from scratch ๐) Dave Caruso made an awesome version of this game called "Elemental 4", which does still have community interaction. Game: elemental4.net Footage of me playing the game: youtube.com/watch?v=ZjHtkK5RVEU Google Drive with the Elemental 3 dataset files: drive.google.com/drive/folders/1_bQtZJ3jXWqnC2xyh4gtVQ7DSLUsmxhe?usp=sharing The code that actually drew all of the visualization was using Processing 3.3.3. My "behind-the-scenes" ramble: youtube.com/watch?v=hhVEOcfCLGQ Somebody else created a version of Elemental 3 that uses the same database to play, but doesn't have online voting/adding new elements. Check it out: apps.quary.cz/dc DISCORD SERVERS! Want to work on your own custom version of the game? Go ahead! (youtube.com/channel/UCsEgaaGTFk8peodRkKTw8MQ) CORRECTIONS At 9:06, I said "1" was the 587th element, but it's really the 568th element. Oops. At 13:10, I talk about "raising the vote threshold". The real reason i did that was to make it significantly harder for "bad" element ideas to get on a lucky streak of upvotes by random chance, and make it into the game. The "10:00 AM dry spell can be seen in the line graph as the *second* flat area after the really steep "up-and-coming" surge. at 16:29, that is a list of projects that random people on the internet pester me to complete. It is NOT a list of projects I'm promising any continuation of. I was just trying to prove the point that it's nearly impossible for me to satisfy everyone at once, so people should be a bit more forgiving when waiting for me to make future installments of those series. I had originally included more sentences earlier on that gave more context about what that list meant, but I cut them out because I wanted to be concise: "Don't bore us, get to the chorus". However, it seems like that backfired, because people saw that list and ran with it that I was promising all these videos now? Communication with the internet sure is difficult!
