Description: Moon’s gravity: 1.62 m/s^2 Jupiter’s gravity: 24.79 m/s^2 Just to clarify, let's imagine the moon stayed the same size and is orbiting Earth along the same path. Let's also imagine that just the gravity increased (which means that the moon would be more compact, but anyways, let's now talk about what would happen) - If this were the case, then a lot of things in the solar system, including moons and even maybe planets, would be attracted to or affected by the moon. It may be possible that Earth, Venus and Mars would orbit the moon. Imagine how crazy of a situation that would be. 3 planets orbiting our tiny moon. - The moon would attract asteroids, which will increase the odds of Earth getting accidentally hit by one, so our odds of death would increase. - In addition, the earth may even come out of the habitable zone due to the intense gravitational attraction of the moon, which will also cause everything on earth to die - Would earth get pulled into the moon and crash into it? Well, it depends on how fast the earth is orbiting the moon. If the orbital speed is too low, then earth will slowly and gradually spiral into the moon. If the earth is orbiting fast enough, then we’ll just orbit the moon. - Would the earth get stretched? No. The earth will not deform like you see here. It just won’t happen. The only time this would probably happen is if the earth was very very close or inside of a black hole. That process is known as spaghettification, and we only ever talk about that when we deal with black holes. - So all in all, we will *hopefully* orbit the moon and not crash into it, nearby planets like Mars and Venus may get affected by the moon’s gravity, and we may get hit by many asteroids. So… not a good ending.
