A spark of curiosity has led me to travel to these less visited regions. I was interested in gently peeling away the layers of Belarus and connecting more deeply with the people. By taking the time to observe, it allows me to understand the culture more and have a greater appreciation of the different human stories I hear on the road. On today’s journey, I took a small van from Vitebsk, south through the countryside to Mogilev before continuing Southeast to my next destination, Gomel. I walked around the city, visited another Lenin monument and stumbled upon a traditional market. I then headed out to a smaller town that was greatly affected by the Chernobyl disaster and got to experience a traditional weaving method before being helped by a bunch of teenagers while trying to return home.
