Hairy frog The bizarre, hairy frog with cat-like extendable claws can break its own bones to produce claws that burst through its skin as weapons... just like X-Men's Wolverine. The hairy frog, also known as the horror frog or Wolverine frog, But what makes this frog so amazing isn’t its hair. It’s its claws. Its claws are made of bone that it can project through its skin by breaking its toe bones. 9. The Mimic Octopus The name for the Mimic Octopus comes from the fact that they often copy the behaviors of other types of animals in the water. They do this in order to trick predators into leaving them alone. They aren’t very large Octopus with an overall length of two feet when they are fully grown. 8. Mantis shrimps Mantis shrimps are featherweight and mere 4 inches long but can throw the fastest punch of any animal. They strike with the force of a rifle bullet and can shatter aquarium glass and crab shells alike. The shrimp has developed a complex muscular structure that actually winds up the shrimp’s punching arm like a spring. 7. The Immortal Jellyfish While the humans have been looking for the elixir of life throughout every period of history, it appears that there is one species of jellyfish that are actually immortal. These tiny jellyfish transform from an adult back into a baby and they can do it over and over again. They are barely visible to the human eye, with an adult jelly reaching an average of 4.5mm, about the size of your pinky nail. What makes this animal so amazing, is the fact that it can live forever. 6. The Malaysian ant Most people are familiar with the fire ant and its painful sting, but that red insect might seem tame when you consider its cousin, the Malaysian ant. Also known as the exploding ant, this little insect really takes its job as a soldier to the extreme. The Malaysian ant is as tiny as any ordinary ant but built to serve and protect the rest of the colony. 5. The Parasitoid Wasp Most predators kill their prey and consume them immediately, and most venomous predators are no exception to this rule. In contrast, parasitic animals do not necessarily kill their host/prey. Parasitoid wasps lay their eggs on or in other insects. Parasitoid wasp uses a venom cocktail injected into the brain to manipulate the behavior and metabolism of its prey. 4. The Platypus The Platypus This guy may look cute and they do love to play and cuddle when kept in captivity, but beware! The Platypus has spurs on his hind feet that give off poison! It’s not lethal but very very painful. His real superpower though is electrolocation, which means he can locate other animals based on the electric current in their muscles. Pretty cool! 3. The Electric Eel The Electric Eel This fish that can grow up to seven feet ling has a shocking power up his sleeve, 600 volts of shocking power to be exact! Luckily for us humans, the charge of electricity it emits is so short it’s not lethal for us. However, it CAN cause heart fibrillation and that is a dangerous thing. So… no putting the eel, please… 2. The shape-shifting sea cucumber The shape-shifting sea cucumber Less cuddly but still amazing is the sea cucumber. When threatened these animals have a whole range of defense mechanisms. Some discharge sticky threads, others shoot vital organs out of their behinds ate the enemy and escape (the organs quickly regenerate). 1. The Axolotl If breaking your tongue by pronouncing its name would be a superpower, this little salamander would have it. But there is a reason this friendly looking amphibian is also known as the Frankenstein Salamander. It can loose and regenerate not just it’s tail or limbs but every part of its body, including organs and even it’s head and brain, without showing scar tissue. A bit more freaky however is that he can “adopt” limbs from other axolotls as his own. Yes, that ALSO includes a head and brain!
