This saying is often spoken by someone who doesn’t have a care in the world. And, most guitar players don’t care much about learning tonality, keys and intervals. The reason is often due to the fact that these topics feel confusing and boring to many players. However, in knowing this stuff a player can achieve one of the fastest paths to masterful performance and highly melodic lead guitar parts. The reason to learn this is simple... When your notes are well known, when you know keys, tonality and intervals you can play into the best notes. This means that even if you are being asked to perform something complex, (music outside of your comfort zone), the chords and melodic ideas will make more sense. This work also leads to an activation of your ear training skills, (which become highly developed during the study of this topic). Eventually, anything that you play over feels comfortable and it will make sense musically. In this video, I’m going to show you one the easiest ways to start incorporating the use of these ideas. Once you start them, you’ll reach the top of your soloing skills and you may even feel that you could play a solo in any style!
