Unless there is a significant inner line or the like, it’s often effective to bring out the lowest and highest pitches in a passage. This frames the sound nicely, kind of like how hamburger buns keep everything together. 🍔 The bass provides support and the higher notes add punctual color. Overdoing the middle notes *sometimes* takes away from the shape of the overall sound. In this passage, especially when the notes get busier, I’m looking at all of the notes there as a big clump. Therefore, I’m able to select in my head which notes are on the lowest end, and which notes are on the highest end. Hope that makes sense! 🙂🙌🏻
