Description: This is a little clip of my day to day. In this video you see Cheyenne and Forrest in the main pen, bordered by Bryce and Zion our two coywolf puppies. Cheyenne is a mid content wolfdog whom we suspect to have very recent full wolf heritage. Her face is highly wolfy, but her body type is abnormal for a wolf, which leads us to believe she may have had one parent who was a full wolf and one who was a full dog. Those instances are exceedingly rare as wolves mate for life and will only mate with a dog that they consider their life mate. Forrest is an upper-mid content wolfdog, meaning he is significantly more wolf than dog. He is not socialized and never let me pet him, but he did come to trust me more than I'd ever hope for and having him come even this close was a major victory. Bryce and Zion are our coywolves. Their genetic testing indicated one parent who was a coyote and one who was a coyote-wolf-dog mix. Unfortunately, genetic testing is still an evolving science and we don't consider those results definitive. They are essentially feral. I spent 8 hours every day with them, and consequently they will allow me to touch them and will come up to me but are nowhere near socialized. I really like this video because it's just a slice of life, albeit a rather bizarre life. This video also helps show some of our safety precautions including double entry fencing, lean ins on the fencing, and dig guards. All of these precautions help prevent escape and protect the animals and are vital to responsible wolfdog ownership.
