Pictures and videos from the ground show flames and smoke billowing out of the historic building while rescue teams continue to search for people who may be trapped. Cuba’s president Miguel Diaz-Cancel said the devastation was not the result of a bomb attack and said that initial investigations point to a gas leak. Luis Antonio Torres Iríbar, the First Secretary of the Communist Party, said that 13 people are still missing. Police and fire crews arrived at the historic Hotel Saratoga on the Paseo del Prado, in Old Havana just after 11am, where walls on the multi-storey building had been blown out by the blast.
