Description: You gave us your weirdest, funkiest, most charismatic creatures—and now, we're holding our first #CharismaticCreature Carnival, where we’ll highlight some of the most interesting animals out there with some spectacular experts who know them well. Join us this time to hear all about two feathery creatures: the Pigeon and the Shoebill Stork. Representing Pigeons is Elizabeth Carlen, postdoctoral researcher at Washington University in St. Louis, and on the side of the Shoebill stork is Judith Mirembe, researcher and citizen scientist in Kampala, Uganda. After three weeks of celebration, we will have our very first true inductee of the Charismatic Creature Corner Hall of Fame. Listen in this September to learn how you can help us crown the winner! --- Because of the pandemic, our show is currently pre-recorded, so the #SciFri team have not able to take our audience's calls. We miss having listeners' voices on our radio program. We still want to hear from folks on our VoxPop app, but we're also experimenting with something new—we’re inviting our listeners to join us live for select recordings for #ScienceFriday on the radio! The event was recorded on Wednesday, September 22, 2021. The segment airs on the radio and our podcast on Friday, September 24, 2021. If you'd like to join future live Zoom call-ins to get your questions on the air with us, sign up for updates at sciencefriday.com/articles/join-live-recording-online
